Certified Volunteer Monitors

The Minnesota Land Trust protects over 560 properties (and counting) across the state. We visit each landowner and monitor each protected property annually. Volunteer monitors are critical in helping us achieve this goal. Each year over 100 certified volunteer monitors assist the Land Trust with monitoring. The Land Trust seeks to give the support that each volunteer needs to have a meaningful experience.

At this time, the Land Trust is recruiting volunteer monitors in the following geographic areas: Western MN (New London-Spicer area north to Detroit Lakes), far northwestern MN (Roseau area), and southeast MN (Houston and Winona counties in particular).  Volunteers living in other areas with a willingness to travel are also welcome to apply.

Certification

All volunteer monitors are asked to complete a certification process and commit to at least two or three years of monitoring.

To become certified, volunteers must:

– Complete a volunteer application.

– Attend a classroom training session.

– Visit a protected property with a staff mentor.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer monitor or would like more information, please contact:
